Jasleen Aulakh is an Indian singer and songwriter from Chandigarh. Her music represents the folk music of Punjab, Rajasthan and Himachal. She believes that music has no language and hence her genres vary from contemporary Sufi to slow rock. She also sings in Punjabi, Hindi, English and French along with her acoustic guitar playing skills. Her interest in music developed when she interacted with various musicians worldwide in Pondicherry. Since then, she dreamt of fusing many genres of music into one. She started as a singer in a one-woman band and performed with many talented musicians. Her collaboration with her mother Polly Saghera has created numerous hits in the music industry.
Their debut song called “Chamba” was a successful release in Bollywood. Another one of their collaborations is “Just Ittefaq” that has achieved tremendous success and they have been performing it at numerous venues in India and abroad. The lyrics of the song were given by Polly Saghera and led and directed by Jasleen Aulakh. The project is an experimentation of different sound using a variety of instruments such as djembe, cajon, darbuka, xylophone, storm drums, table, morchang etc. Their music together aims to popularize folk music worldwide and inspire people. Jasleen’s melodious voice and remains a unique mark as she tends to inspire people with her soulful music globally.
