Binota Chakravarty

Binota Chakravarty is an Indian singer. She was born in Bombay to a family with musical background and had 7 siblings. She was named Vinata Raghavandra Amladi. Her father A.V.R. Rao was a trained Tabla and Sitar player and her elder sister Hemlata Amladi who introduced her to music, was also a classical singer. She also sang in a Marathi movie ‘Ti Ani Te’ (1948). She was married to Krishna Chakraborty who was a pianist.

After marriage, she moved to Bengal where she became Binota from Vinata. Binota sang in the movie ‘25th July’ in 1951. She sang the famous song Preet Karna Chaahi Re Manwa in the movie ‘Yatrik’ in 1952. In 1953, she shifted back to Bombay after her husband died. She sang songs for the movie ‘ Kasturi Kasturi is an Indian Television drama broadcast on >> Read More... ’ (1954) and ‘Shri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu’ (1954), after which she retired. She is currently living in Goregaon in Mumbai.
