Yashwant Ranjankar was a well-known Journalist, Playwright, Novelist, and Screenplay writer in Marathi Movies. He was famous for writing in different genres of stories like horror, Mystery, and science fiction. He has written and published 50 books in his career. Yashwant began his career with a bank job and later became a librarian at the Mumbai Marathi Library. After that, he joined the Marathi language Newspaper Loksatta. In 1980, he became editor of the film weekly Lokrang. His famous books include Bairagpada, Lawrence of Arabia, Alfred Hitchcock, and Walt Disney.
As a screenwriter of Marathi movies, he wrote Majhe Ghar (1963), Karava Tasa Bharava (1975), Sikka (1976), Shapit (1982), Ardhangi (1985), Khara Warasdar (1986), Sarja (1987), Kashasathi Premasathi (1987), Zakali Muth Sawwa Lakhachi (1989) and Jeeva Sakha (1991). He has also received an award for Best Screenplay for Ardangi from Maharastra State.
