Mushtaq Jalili, born on October 27, 1927, in Hyderabad, was an Indian screenwriter. He was the son of Urdu poet Fasahat Jung Jaleel, who worked for the Nizam Empire in Hyderabad as an Urdu poet. He moved to Bombay to become a writer in the film industry. However, his quest to become a writer in the film industry was not simple. In 1955, he worked as an assistant writer in the narrative section for P.N. Arora. After that, he also served as Pandit Mukhram Sharma's writing assistant.
He penned the screenplays for Begaana and Kaun Apna Kaun Paraya in 1963. He also wrote the dialogue for the 1966's film Mohabbat Zindagi Hai by K.C. Gulati, the screenplay and dialogue for the 1966's film Dillagi, the script for the 1969's film Ek Phool Do Mali, and the story and screenplay for the 1973's film Pyaar Ka Rishta. His other works include movies like Aap To Aise Na The, Naseeb Apna, Salaami, Avtaar, Aadmi Sadak Ka and Aatish. Jalili also penned the dialogue for Bonny (1990) and Safari (1999), as well as the scripts for Dharkan (1972), Do Musafir (1978), and Mr Phandebaaz (1995). He is aslo well-known for his work in films such as Tel Malish Boot Polish (1961), Anokhi Adaa (1973) and Pocket Maar (1974). He died on October 14, 2004 in Juhu, Mumbai.
