Sukant Panigrahy

Sukant Panigrahy is a well-known Hindi production designer and an art director. He was born on 11th May in the year 1976. He is from a small village of Orissa called Aska. He got married to an Australian woman named Helen Jones and had a son named Saujas. In his childhood, he did not like to study as he had a fear of ending up like his brothers and sisters who were graduates and were giving a large number of job interviews everyday in search of jobs.

He was rather interested in art. Later he dropped in 12th standard, left his home and went to Bhubaneshwar. He did a few small jobs in that state and then migrated to Mumbai without any money. After reaching Mumbai, he encountered with the TV director Ajit Patnaik who gave him a chance to join his team and work with him as an assistant.

During this phase of his life, he had to do many dirty jobs such as sweeping the floor, cleaning the toilets, etc., but he never raised an objection against any work. With his dedication and passion, he soon got a chance to work for Sharmistha Roy who is a famous art director. He made some drawings for her in the film “Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jaayenge.” He continuously worked as an assistant for seven years then his hard work paid off and he got the chance to work independently in his debut film Gangaajal at the age of 25 years.

Slowly he became more and more successful in Bollywood. His career started shining, but he wanted to achieve more. He also worked as an art director in the movies like Idgah, Joker, Jaane Kahan Se Aayi Hai, Dev D, Karz, Tashan, AajaNachle, Chak De! India, Cape Karma, Jai Santoshi Maa, Oass, Fiza, and many more. He got the Filmfare Award for “Best Art Direction” and got nominated for Best Production Design in Zee Cine Award. He has become more and more successful day by day, and his work can be seen in a large number of films today.
