Manjit Bawa is a Hindi painter. He was born on 30th July 1941 in Dhuri, Punjab. He was encouraged to pursue art by his brother. He studied at the College of Art, New Delhi, and also at the London School of Printing. His main artistic inspirations were religion, spirituality, music, and literature. His work has been displayed worldwide in places in different parts of Asia and Europe. He was awarded many accredited awards like the Sailoz Prize in 1963, National Award by the Lalit Kala Academy in 1980. His most expensive painting was that of Krishna and the Cow and it sold for 780,500 dollars. He was also musically talented.
He played the tabla and bamboo flute. His wife Sharada played the sitar. He was also an activist; he once conducted a peace march as a response to the anti-Sikh riots which happened in Delhi in 1991. He also founded the Committee for Communal Harmony. He lived stayed in New Delhi till he passed away on 29th December in 2008.
