Kevin J Doucette is a television, film, and video game composer with extensive experience in a variety range of musical styles & genres. He is an executive producer, technologist, entrepreneur, composer, and educator. As an associate professor, he has been working at Berklee College of Music in Boston since March 2016. He is the co-founder of Genius Group LLC. With a unique background in engineering & film scoring, his work is often at the nexus of music & technology. Kevin J Doucette is also a Dutch-Canadian piano player. He completed his school education at British School in the Netherlands in 1998.
After that, he graduated in Mechanical Engineering at Queen's University (1998 - 2002. Then, he did a BA in music from the same university (2002 – 2003). In 2005, he completed a film scoring major at Berklee College of Music in Boston. In 2018, he went to the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, to study professional development and advances in imaging and Machine Learning.
Kevin J Doucette was a Film Scoring Lab Monitor at Berklee College of Music (2005 – 2008) and Boston Area Trainer/ Merchandizer at Yamaha (July 2006 – September 2009). Then, he worked as a composer assistant at Shragge Music (September 2009 – July 2010) and as a creative member at Music and Motion Productions (September 2007 - September 2010). Later, he started working with Oscar & Golden Globe-winning composer A.R. Rahman on his Slumdog Millionaire world tour and became an integral part of his team.
As an assistant music director, he worked at A.R. Rahman – Coke Studio Season 3. He collaborated on projects such as The Hundred-Foot Journey, Pele: Birth of a Legend (made the Oscar 2017 nomination list for Best Original Score), Million Dollar Arm, and several Indian feature films. Before, as an assistant music director, he worked as a musician, engineer, and composer at Panchathan Recording Inn & AM Studios in Chennai for three months (Jan 2012 – March 2012).
Kevin J Doucette worked as the West Coast Rep at Steinberg North America for ten years (March 2010 – Dec 2020). He trained musicians & music producers on Nuendo, Cubase, Wavelab, and Dorico. Also, he has presented on man panels at NAMM, discussing the future of wearable instruments & music technology. Kevin J Doucette spent his formative years in the Netherlands and France, developing a passion for music at an early age of his life. Although he can play several instruments. Since the age of six, he has been a classically trained pianist. He frequently plays in and directs live shows such as A.R. Rahman’s Coke Studio show in India and the John Williams Tribute Concert at the Madrid Opera House in Spain.
Kevin J Doucette was the Head of Studio – Firdaus Studio by A.R. Rahman in Dubai for a year (Feb 2021 – Mar 2022). From Sep 2016 to Dec 2022, he served as Music Supervisor at KM MUSIQ INC in Los Angeles County, California, United States. Also, he collaborated with Intel and invented new music technology, featured at the CES 2018 keynote with Intel CEO Brian Krisanich.
He is an Emmy-nominated composer for his performance in Momentum Generation. He worked on television, trailers, and video games, including "Dead Rising 4" and "Need for Speed." He also developed an AI (artificially intelligent) composing algorithm through his collaboration with Intel. It will be used for the mascot anthems in the 2021 Tokyo Olympic Games. His other collaboration was with Britain's infamous pop icons Robbie Williams & Guy Chambers, who recorded and produced the album "The Heavy Entertainment Show."Â
