Jeet Pritam Chakraborty is a renowned singer, composer, instrumentalist, and guitarist. He was born on 14 June 1971 in a Bengali family to Anuradha Chakraborty and Prabodh Chakraborty.  Pritam learned to play guitar while he was in school and got his music training from his father. After completing his secondary education at St. James School, Pritam pursued his bachelor’s in geology from Presidency College. In 1994, he joined FTII Pune and pursued Sound Recording and Engineering.

During his college days, he was a member of a non-partisan political platform, Independents’ Consolidation. He also formed a band called Jotugriher Pakhi with his batchmates, for which he played guitar. In 1997, after completing his sound engineering, he came to Mumbai and started composing ad jingles. Thereafter, Pritam composed jingles for famous brands like Santro, Head & Shoulders, Emami, Limca, Complan, and McDonald’s. He also composed little soundtracks for many TV serials like Kkavyanjali, Ye Meri Life Hai, Remix, Dil Kare, and Astitva.

His debut in the industry came with Tere Liye Tere Liye is a popular Hindi TV series broadcasted >> Read More... (released in 2001) and Mere Yaar Ki Shadi Hai. Pritam’s composition became widely popular due to his ability to perfectly blend Indian Classical music with Western styles. Pritam received his first nomination for the Filmfare Award for Best Music Director for the soundtrack of Dhoom, which was a super hit at that time.
