Mukta Barve was decided on becoming an actress since standard 10, and that is what she went on to become, one of the most popular Marathi celebs. Her father worked for a telecom company and mother, a school teacher. She graduated in the subject theater from Savitribai Phule Pune University and had a bachelor’s degree in drama from Lalit Kala Kendra. Marathi TV show Ghadlay Bighadlay was her debut. Her theater debut was Aamhala Vegle Vhayache (2001). Her film debut was in the next year with Marathi movie Chakwa.
Her critically appreciated movies are Thang in the year 2006, Maati Maay, Sawar re the next year, Saas Bahu Aur Sensex in 2008, Sumbaran, and Ek Daav Dhobi Pachhad the next year. The 2009 film, Jogwa became a turning point in her career, giving her back-to-back hit films like Mumbai-Pune-Mumbai in 2010, Badam Rani Gulam Chor in 2012, Lagna Pahave Karun and Mangalashthak Once More the next year,
and the sequel to Mumbai-Pune-Mumbai in 2015. She has her production house, which had produced plays- Chappa Kata (2013) and Lovebirds (2015), and a theater based poetry program, Rang Nava (2014) which displays her poetry and others too. She won and was nominated for an unending list of awards a few of which were for Dehbaan -Alpha Gaurav Awards as the Most Promising Newcomer,
Best Actress in a Experimental Play in 2005, an award for Chakwa , Maharashtra State Film Awards as the Most Promising Newcomer , in 2006 Hum To Tere Aashiq Hai as Best Actress in a Commercial Play, Maharashtra Times Sanman Awards, Zee Gaurav Awards , Maharashtra State Film Awards, Sangeet Natak Akademi Awards in 2009.2010 gave her the Marathi International Film and Theatre Awards and 2011 Aaghaat -Best Actress award and many more. She has an unending list of achievements. Such a talent she is.
