Kalpana Mohan worked predominantly in Bollywood. Born on 23rd August 1946 Kalpana hails from Srinagar, India. Some of her flicks include Professor, Teen Devian, Pyar Kiye Jaa, Saheli and Teesr Kaun. She is a successful Kathak dancer and imbibed this skill from Pandit Shambhu Maharaj. She stayed in Pune along with her family.Â
Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru occasionally welcomed Kalpana to showcase her dancing skills at the Rashtrapathi Bhavan, when luminaries visited. Writer Ismat Chughtai and actor Balraj Sahani were instrumental in her entering into films. The 1962 flick Professor was a turning point in Kalpana’s career. Her role was indeed a memorable one. The 60s and 70s were heydays in her short career.Â
Kalpana was full of vigor and her eyes were her greatest strength. Kalpana tied the nuptial knot to a navy officer in 1967 but separated from him during the year 1972. Though she stayed in Mumbai thereafter she didn’t pursue acting. This was supposed because she was very much affected by the separation. Her marriage with
Sachin Bhowmick
, a director and screenplay writer also didn’t work out. Kalpana shifted to Pune due to her worsening health condition.Â
Kalpana was known to be a lively and straightforward woman in real life. Kalpana breathed her last on 4th January 2012.
