He was associated with various theatre groups right from his school time. After completing his graduation, he shifted to Mumbai to follow a conventional path and pursue a career in Law. After, that he joined a pharmaceutical company but could not continue his job as his mind was so attached and lured towards acting.

When he learnt about a reality show Jet Set Go in 2005-2006, he participated in the show and was given an IIFA award in Dubai. This gave him a certain boost in his confidence and experience. Then he joined Kishore Namit Kapoor’ Institute to learn all the essentials of acting.

His first opportunity to act in a movie came with a crime thriller called Ankur Arora Murder Case. Here he managed to appear in just a single scene. As Salim Diwan always wanted to become an actor, when he got the chance to play a similar character in his movie titled Bollywood Diaries he was very thrilled.

This film hit the theatres on February 26, 2017. In the movie, the actor Diwan played the role of a enthusiastic fan who wishes to someday become a part of Bollywood film industry. The film ‘Bombay Diaries’ won many national and international awards including The Special Jury Mention Award given by The Dadasaheb Phalke Film Foundation Award in the year 2016.
