Ramesh Deo is one of the best known actors from India known for his contributions to Indian theatre, television and film. He has worked in countless films, in various languages such as Hindi and Marathi, and in a lot of plays, documentaries and ad films. He has also taken on the directorial venture by directing a number of television serials, films, and documentaries.
He was born on January 30th in 1929 in Kolhapur in Maharashtra. His ancestral family was originally from Jodhpur and his great grandfather had built the Jodhpur Palace. Chhatrapati Shahu Maharaj of Kolhapur had invited Ramesh’s grandfather to build the Kolhapur city. His father later became the judge of Kolhapur. In the year 1951, Ramesh Deo made his debut acting appearance in, ‘Paatlaachi Por’ which was a Marathi film.
Although his first appearance was only a short cameo, it was in the year 1956 that he starred in ‘Andhala Magto Ek Dola’ a Marathi film which was directed by film maker,
. He started his career with negative roles and later went on to gain more prominent roles. In the year 1962, he appeared in his first film in the Hindi language named, ‘Aarti’ which was released under the banner of Rajshree Productions.
He has acted as a medium of support to many stars in achieving their breakthrough roles. Some of the star actors being,
