Narugopal Mandal

Narugopal Mandal, also known by his nicknames Santanu Mandal and M.N. Gopal, was born on August 25th, 1975, in Agarpara, Amarshi, Patashpur, East Midnapore, West Bengal, India.

Hailing from East Midnapore, West Bengal, India, and coming from a very humble background, it is highly commendable what this multi-talented man has achieved throughout the years having such an illustrious career in the show business.

The journey was in no way comfortable. He came to Kolkata in the early 2000s, a young man with ambitions of making it in the city.

He walked the roughest of roads and now owns his own production house (Sri Sri Om Narasingha Jue Production) and has created a niche for himself in the Industry.

Narugopal Mandal credits his parents, father Sri Shyam Sundar Mandal and his late mother, Lata Rani Mandal, as his source of inspiration and the ones who gave him the drive to achieve and fueled his passions.

Some of his colleagues greatly influenced him, especially Swapan Pakhira, Somnath Kar, Shyamal Utthasini, and Anjan Banerjee, they were instrumental in shaping his career. He came into the limelight winning high praise and several accolades for directing “Megh Bhanga Roddur” at the “19th Kolkata International Film Festival” (held in 2013).

Going forward, he has kept himself very busy, working on several short films, feature films, music videos, and documentaries.

Some of the most notable works in his career were “Akash Akhono Nil,” “The Nagori k,” “Barude Fuler Gandho,” “Chena Premer Golpo,” “Past Present Future,” “Sap-Ludo,” and numerous other films.

Don’t let his looks mislead you though, his prowess in direction is well-known to all, but he is also a skilled writer and has a collection of his own stories and scripts. He also has tried out in the music industry, with his lyrics being in high demand from composers and singers.

One of the things that he is genuinely grateful for during his long years with the show business is that he considers himself extremely lucky to have been able to work with numerous legendary personalities.

He believes it his good fortune and personal milestones that many prominent actors have worked under his direction in Hindi, Bengali, and Bhojpuri films.

Although many have tried to persuade him to try his hand in acting, directing a film has always remained his first love. Narugopal Mandal wants to again walk this earth as a director and a positive thinking human in his next birth, leaving a legacy behind where ever he walks.
