Kunaal Kyhaan

Kunaal Khyaan was born as Kunaal Khyaan Seolekar. He is a trained architect, interior designer, artist, actor and model. Born into the family of artists and designers, his mother, an interior designer, and his grandmother, an artist, played significant roles in shaping his creative journey. Kunaal spent his formative year at an international school in Kodaikanal. In 2012, Kunaal founded studio HAUS in Pune, India. This studio gained recognition for its unique blend of architecture, interior design and product design. His work characterized by its use of natural materials, innovative forms, and a deep connection to Indian cultural motifs. He drew inspiration from travel, natural materials, nature and most often the initial stages of the the design process. In 2017, Kunaal launched KOY, a contemporary Indian home and lifestyle brand.

KOY is known for its eclectic collection of high-quality, handcrafted products celebrating Indian materiality and craftsmanship. The brand’s design often incorporates rich colors, natural materials, playful forms, making everyday objects into pieces of art. The hybrid identity is inspired partly by the philosophy of the Koi Fish. Kunaal’s work has been showcased globally, including at prestigious events like the Milan Design Week. His designs have been featured in leading home Decor magazines, and he has collaborated with renowned Italian brands to create unique furniture collections. He was invited in Frankfurt to showcase the KOY collection. His brand KOY also participated in the Asia Pavilion at the Tortoni design district. In India, his brand KOY took part in all the essential design shows including Elle Décor ID India in New Delhi. D’Code was another significant show in Mumbai, curated by a leading interior designer in India. In 2017 he won the EDIDA young Talent Award, followed by EDIDA 2019 Designer of the Year. His architectural project Park HAUS has been awarded the best Residential Project by Trends Awards and nominated by ArchDaily for the Building of the year 2020 awards. Through his work, Kunaal Kyhaan Seolkhar continues to redefine contemporary Indian design, blending tradition with modernity and creating pieces that are both functional and visually stunning.
