Swaiman Singh Pakhoke is a Clinical Instructor in Advanced Heart Failure and Transplant Cardiology at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. In 2012, he became the founder and president of Five Rivers Heart Association, headquartered in California. Punjab is referred to as “the land of five rivers.” This inspired him to name the association. The organization provides service to the public by preventing diseases by practicing evidence-based health policy. Swaiman Singh was born in Amritsar, Punjab. When he was ten, he immigrated to the US with his family. He pursued a bachelor's degree from Rutgers University.
Swaiman Singh’s family has a history in farming and he is attached to the culture and values. He has set up medical camps in rural areas of Punjab, including his ancestral village of Pakhoke. There were significant agricultural protests and COVID-19 pandemic during 2020-21. He travelled to Delhi in 2021 and provided medical care to the protesting farmers because of the absence of healthcare and education among them. He worked together with the local doctors and offered health checkups, blood tests, and free medications to people. His family’s farming legacy and his commitment to public service inspired him to do so. He established a free medical hospital and community center through the Five Rivers Heart Association.
