Baba Ramdev

Baba Ramdev is an Indian Entrepreneur and spiritual guru. His real name is Ram Kisan Yadav. He was born in 1965 in Mahendragarh, Haryana, India. He is famous for popularizing Yoga and Ayurveda in India. He has been conducting his yoga camps since 2002, and his yoga classes are also broadcasted on many Television networks. Baba Ramdev is the co-founder of Patanjali Ayurved Ltd. In which he partnered with his colleague Balkrishna. His parents are Gulabo Devi and Ramnivas Yadav, farmers. Baba Ramdev is greatly affected by Satyarth Prakash, a Hindi book written in 1875 by Maharishi Dayanand Saraswati. Baba Ramdev’s main yoga center is based in Haridwar, where he practices and teaches yoga which is also broadcasted on television channels.

In 1995 Baba Ramdev founded “Divya Yog Mandir Trust.” In 2003 a channel named Aastha TV began showing his morning yoga slot from where he gained huge popularity. He then started having students from all over the world. In 2006, he was invited to deliver a lecture on poverty alleviation at a United Nations Conference by Kofi Annan. Baba Ramdev was one of the nine personalities invited by the Indian Prime Minister when the Swachh Bharat Mission was launched on 2 October 2014. He has also won many awards. He received an Honorary Doctorate from Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology in January 2007 for popularizing the Vedic system/ science of Yoga. In July 2007, he was honored by the US state of New Jersey for his commitment to improving health in mind. In January 2009, he was given the title Mahamahopadhyaya in Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh.
