Deependra Singh Vatsa

D S Vatsa is a filmmaker and storyteller born in 1986 in Allahabad (now Prayagraj), and his family moved to Mumbai when he was a child. He received his early education in Mumbai culture as the son of a poet and a renowned painter. Soon after, fate called him back to his roots, and he returned to Allahabad and Lucknow to complete his schooling. As a brilliant student in Allahabad, he witnessed the rhythm of this lovely city, which is a cultural melting pot that symbolizes India. He dropped out of school at the age of 16 and returned to Mumbai, where he began working odd jobs in the film industry as a movie editor searching for shelter and food.

After that, he went on to edit several films and television shows. He was nominated for an ITA award in the category of best editor in 2013. He is well-known for his work on big-budget film trailers. In 2015, he began filming "I Witness," his debut short film. He earned the Best Director award at MISFFI Miami as a director. In addition, the film received 17 awards in national and international categories, including best actor, best screenplay, and best story.

With his post-production knowledge and technical skills, he was also the head of a VFX firm during these years. In 2017, he wrote and directed "Shoonya-Sound of Silence," his debut film. Shoonya-Sound of Silence is a silent film told through the eyes of a deaf and mute man. Shoonya has won awards at film festivals and was praised by critics. He returned to Allahabad and Banaras after a six-month hiatus from his media profession to conduct comprehensive research on the Aghoris cult. His debut novel is titled "Shankhnaad."
