Sonal Batra

Sonal Batra is a writer and director in the Indian film industry. She attended the Apeejay School in West Bengal and later went to Kamala Nehru College in Delhi University for a B.A.Hons in Economics in 2007. Sonal is a woman of many talents. While in college, she actively participated in numerous cultural events, played the guitar and was appointed as the President of the literary society of her college. After completing her course in 2010, she went to Symbiosis Institute of Mass Communication for further studies. Sonal started working as a content writing intern on a contractual basis in 2010. She landed her first job as an assistant director at Lakotee Films in 2013. Here, she directed four TVC films as a second director in line. After that, she joined Walkwater Media Limited, where she carried out research for the pre-production of a movie. Later, she switched to Culture Machine Media Limited, where she worked for around five years. At Culture Machine Media, she directed several projects for YouTube channels. As a freelance director, she has worked on numerous web series, TV commercials and films in the industry. Some of her projects include- Home Sweet Office (2019), Behensplaining (2019), and Love Beats (2021). She also directed a short film, Khatti Meethi in 2019. Considering the bounts of experience that Sonal has and her expertise in this field, she was named among the top 10 directors of the country by Manifest On September 4, 2024.
