Shikha Janet is an Indian industry filmmaker from Mumbai, Maharashtra, India. She has done several known projects including daily Television soaps, documentary films, short movies, Bollywood editing projects, Commercials, advertisements and theatre work. Janet is graduated from St. Andrew’s College of Arts, Science and Commerce in 2014 in the course BMM. She was the topper and all-rounder in college and holds a scholar-student record. The artist started as an actor in a theatre where she got interested in writing and directing the plays. She got the opportunity in 2015, to assist the directors in daily soaps through the internship. Later, Shikha stepped into independent film-making with her own brand-firm named “SJA Productions.” The production has launched several projects including documentaries, movies, short-films, commercials, etc. She has been in associations with “Western India’s Film Producers Association,” “Film Writers Association-Mumbai” and “Indian Film and Television Directors Association.”
The movie “Mirrors Never Lie (2014)” is a ten minutes dark-drama film about a pretty girl who is delusional about her beauty, suffering from a mental illness. The project starred Rhythm as the main lead and it was highly acknowledged around the globe. Another project was “Flushed (2016),” a short-drama film about a guy named ‘Shaurya’ and his life events. The movie is eight minutes long starring actor Abhineet and Aishi Sarkar in the lead. In 2017, the movie named “17 Minutes” was released by Shikha which was a twenty minute short-drama starring actress Anushka. The film gained huge popularity among viewers and was a hit. The superhit project of the director was launched in 2017 named “Deaf Ears,” a two minute short-drama movie. The film received high appreciation and got an award for ‘one-minute run.’ It was highly impactful and intriguing.
Shikha has won over seven awards at the Film Festival and has been nominated more than fifty times, for her four films namely “Mirrors Never Lie,” “Flushed,” “Deaf Ears” and “17 Minutes.” The impact of the projects was known worldwide and the director was acknowledged for her work. The creative talent has been recognized all over the world including countries like London, Los Angeles, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Europe and Johannesburg. The most-known awards won is for the ‘Best Film,’ for the projects; “Deaf Ears,” at Wular Lake International Short Film Festival in the category “Best 1 minute Film” at Kashmir, “17 Minutes,” at Cortokino Film Festival, Mumbai and “Deaf Ears,” at Women’s International Film Festival 2017 in Pakistan. For ‘Best Editor’ for the movie “Deaf Ears,” for 12 Months Film Festival 2016 in Europe Film Festival and ‘Special Jury’ for the movies; “Deaf Ears,” in Bangalore Festellen Short Film Festival and “Flushed,” in Rising International Short Film Festival, Pune.
