Samarth Mahajan is a non – fiction filmmaker born in 1994. in Dina Nagar. Presently, he lives in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India. His parents are Rohit and Rekha. Also, he has two sisters and one brother. From 1994 to 2007, he studied at S. S. D. A. V. Sr. Sec School, Dina Nagar. He studied Mechanical Engineering at IIT Kharagpur. Finally, he completed his Post-Graduate Diploma in Liberal arts and science at Ashoka University in 2017. After completing all those studies, his career journey started.
In 2010, he became the General Secretary, Technology of Meghad Saha Hall of residence, IIT Kharagpur. As a general secretary, he had many responsibilities like organizing event meetings, attending Sub-committee meetings, etc. He also has experience in team management, market research, advertising, business development, manufacturing, screenwriting, documentaries, etc. He speaks many languages like English, Hindi, and Punjabi. Moreover, he is passionate about telling human stories that remain invisible to the mainstream.
“The Unreserved,” his national award-winning feature about passengers in the third class of Indian Railways, premiered at Film South Asia 2017, has been presented at over 50 forums and received a rare limited theatrical release in India. He directed and produced “Borderlands.” Mainly based on the story Borderline. He was supported by one of the largest crowdfunding campaigns for an Indian film that premiered in 2021. His projects have been featured at film markets across the globe, including the Marché du Film business counterpart of the Cannes Film Festival in Europe.
