Rukshana Tabassum

Rukshana Tabassum is an Indian actress, writer, and director. She made her debut in acting with the film I.D. in 2012 as the role of Smita. Later she did movies like Burning (2018) as Shakuntala Mishra, Nirmal Anand ki Puppy (2020) as Ria, and worked as writer and director in many short films like Bubbles and Stars (2014), and Shuruaat ka Interval (2015). She directed award-winning short films like The Cake Story (2017), Mission Sunday (2015) and, Adharottar. She has shot digital advertisements for well-known brands like Asian Paints, Godrej, and Orissa Tourism. She has also worked with Kumar Shahani Kumar Shahani is a renowned director. She was born in Nagaon, Assam and both of her parents were teachers. Her maternal uncle Tasadduq Yusuf was a famous Assamese actor. She did her graduation from the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII), Pune, Mumbai, in 2008. She used to work in a film production company before she started writing, and directing her film. Storytelling was her passion and she has been working in the Hindi film industry since 2007.

Besides film-making, she likes drawing, painting, and dancing since she was a kid. She is skilled in Bharatanatyam. She has also been a student of the famous artist of Assam, Mr. Pranab Barua, but her inspiration was her mother, who was a self-taught artist and has won many State level competitions; she was her first teacher. She posts her artworks on Facebook by the name of The Twirling Girl. Her brand name The Twirling Girl represents the state of freedom and bliss that she found through art. She loves traveling and has an interest in culinary arts and Mythology.
