. In 1948, he worked as a clerk with the Socialist Party. He also worked as a secretary of the Press Worker’s Union. In 1958, he moved to London and directed the films, produced by Stuart Legg and Arthur Elton for the Shell Film Unit.
He has also scripted the documentary James Beveridge for India’s Shell Film Unit. Umang was his first production movie. He has introduced various FTII talented actors like Asrani and Paintal. He has directed movies like Memsaab, Yaar Mera, Aarop, Yeh Gulista Hamara, Resham Ki Dori, Pyar Ka Rahi, Topsides, and many more. He has also directed TV serials such as Vividha, Beesvah Unth, Ramlal Shyamlal, Ashanti Shantidas, Ladoosingh Taxiwala, and Yeh Sach Hai.
