Ashfaque Khopekar

Ashfaque Khopekar is an Indian director, writer, and producer. He is one of the reputed filmmakers of the Hindi film industry. He is the President of the Dadasaheb Phalke Film Foundation Awards and Screenwriters Guild Awards. Khopekar was born on May 12, 1962, in Mumbai, India. He completed schooling at St. Joseph High School. Then, he finished college with a B.Com degree in 1985. Khopekar started his career as a producer of the TV serial Aazadi Ki Ore (1993). Apart from being President of the prestigious awards, Khopekar holds some prestigious film industry positions. The multi-talented filmmaker is the advisory panel member of the Central Board of Film Certifications and member of the Indian Motion Pictures Producers Association (IMPPA). He was also the adviser of the Federation of Western India Cine Employees. In 2024, the renowned director was honoured with the Bharat Ratna Dr. Ambedkar Award, presented by Maharashtra Governor C.P. Radhakrishnan.
