Arun Chadha is an Indian director. He was born in Meerut, India. He did his graduation in Arts and then moved to the Film and Television Institute, Pune. Now he is residing in New Delhi with his family. Arun also has a film production house called Cine Pulse. Arun has won many national awards. In 2012 he won National Award for his film Mindscapes of Love and Longing, released in 2011. This film won its award for Best film on social issues. He received the first prize for best documentary film at the FAI Film Competition in 1995, India. On the Threshold was adjudged Best film at the International Video Documentary Film Festival on Science, Society & Development held in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, in 1995.
In 1998 he received Second Prize at FAI Film Competition for Temple of Goddess Earth. Arun received the golden conch award for the best documentary film in the Mumbai International Film Festival in 2000 for The Shame is Not Mine. This film was based on women's empowerment. He again received the Golden Conch Award for the best documentary film from India in February 2004 for Swayam. This film was based on the short and long-term impact of micro-finance on self-help groups of India.Â
In 1994, his film On the Threshold premiered in the Bombay Film Festival for Documentary. In 1994 his film The Last to Sail was also featured in the Bombay Film Festival for Documentary. Arun’s film Geetanjali was featured in the Bombay Film Festival in 1996. His film The shame is not mine was featured in Goat Island International Film Festival in Sydney, Australia, in 2000. He has been making films since 1980 and has made more than 75 documentary films. His film covers many social issues related to health, social anthropology, child issues, and many more. He was also a member of the Nomination Jury, 7TH NSFFI in 2017.
