Amit Joshi is an Indian director, working mainly in Bollywood films. After graduating with a Master of Computer Application, he got employed in Delhi. He quit his job to become a screenwriter. As a child, Joshi loved cartooning but later developed an interest in poetry. He has also attempted to write a book titled – “Mera Prem Sweekar Karo,” which is yet to be published. Besides cartoons and poetry, he was inclined toward sports and developing ideas for stories. Watching Hindi films helped him understand the nuances of moviemaking. Then he went on to write for theatre before his venture into screenwriting; the theatre experience gave him a better understanding of his writing and helped him analyze and evaluate his writing.
Joshi is known for his contribution as a screenwriter in the film Trapped (2016), starring Rajkumar Rao as the central character. The story is about Shaurya, who unknowingly locks himself inside a new home with no necessities. The plot revolves around the protagonist and his attempt to survive. In 2018 the movie was nominated for the Technical Awards for the best story and best screenplay. Joshi’s film – Trapped; is inspired by a similar incident that happened to him during his stay in a flat in Mumbai. This incident conceived the idea of Trapped. Through this film, he wanted to portray that we are occupied by technology and don’t have time for self-reflection.
