Abhay Punjabi

Abhay Punjabi a director, creative producer, and assistant video editor completed his schooling at Delhi Public School, Faridabad, and graduated from Sri Venkateshwar College with a Bachelor of Science. He worked as an assistant video editor for seven months under Doordarshan News. He then went on to work as a director under Vertisystem for 5years. He also worked as a director for Ambidextr Studios for eight years and has recently started working as a creative producer for Applause Entertainment. He won the national award for the best short film Achala in 2017, held by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting. He also has a certificate in Non-Linear Editing given by the Film and Television Institute of India. Abhay's first film as a director, writer, producer, and editor was Bijli Bittoo(2015), a poetic romance co-written by Ravi Bhadoria and Tushar Vashishta. Abhay also worked as a director, producer, editor, and writer in Achala(2017), a short film.

His next project as a director was also a short film named Together with Gurez(2018), which is about Gurez, the world's 2nd coldest, inhabitable place, and documents the life of people and their aspirations. In 2016, he worked as a second assistant director in the movie An Insignificant Man an Indian socio-political documentary co-produced and directed by Khushboo Ranka and Vinay Shukla. The movie shows the formation and rise to power of the Aam Aadmi Party(AAP). It stars Arvind Kejriwal and Manish Sisodia. His next project as a second assistant director was Kheer (2017), a love story of an elderly couple, starring Anupam Kher and Natasha Rastogi. Abhay worked as a first assistant director in The Booth(2019), a 15-minute short movie telling two forbidden love stories, directed by Rohin Raveendran short movie stars Parna Pethe and Amruta Subhash.

His next project as an assistant director is 2024(2021), a drama thriller that takes place in the year 2024 where a deadly virus is turning the city of Mumbai into a death zone directed by Rohin Raveendran, starring Tejasvi Singh Ahlawat, Mihir Ahuja, and Azzy Bagria. He has also worked as a cinematographer for the movie WOMB(Women of My Billion) 2021, a heart-wrenching and heartwarming documentary narrating the plight, dreams, rights, aspirations, and struggle and fight against all forms of violence faced by women in modern patriarchal India and how that unifies all the women. The film is Directed by Ajitesh Sharma and produced by Apoorva Bakshi.
