Rupsa Batabyal was born in 2012 in Kolkata. She is from a middle-class Brahmin family. Her mother's name is Shivani Batabyal, and she is the only child of her parents. She is pretty shy by nature and speaks significantly little. Her nickname is Tanu. Rupsa is an average student in her school and had an extensive interest in dancing from a very young age.
In 2018, she auditioned for the dance reality show "Super Dance chapter 3" of Sony Entertainment Television and got selected. In the show, her dance mentor was choreographer Nishant Bhat. She has earned the appreciation of the audience and the judges of the show with her amazing dance performances. She dances in Bollywood style and is fondly addressed as Dance ki Gudia on the show. She has even earned the epithet of the 'Queen of Thumkas' for her power-packed moves and groves. She gets paid Rs. 10000 to 12000 per day. Director of Step Industries Pvt. Ltd., Sunil Tayal got so impressed by her dance that he showed his support towards her by offering to sponsor her education and dance training. In an interview, her mother said that she was of reticent nature earlier and didn't mix up with anyone easily, but after participating in this show, she opened up.
