Madhav Agasti, a costume designer, born in the early 1960s, came from a small village to become a renowned tailor specializing in stitching kurtas, churidars, jackets, and bandh galas for years, especially in political circles. Agasti noticed, that every leader wanted to look good these days. Arriving in Mumbai years ago at the young age of his early 20s, with empty pockets, he had to face life on the streets but didn't give up with commitment and dedication, at the age of 23 he set up a small shop in Shivaji Park, that marked his turning point. His business sparked and the word spread, reaching political figures like Presidents Kovind and Mukherjee, Chief Ministers Shinde and Nitish Kumar, and even international figures like journalist Tariq Fatah.
Agasti's highest achievement was designing President Kovind's suit in 2017, showcasing his unique ability to stitch garments without formal measurements. He has a specialty, to stitch clothes without taking measurements. Once he looks at a person, he can stitch for the client and the clothes will fit perfectly. His clientele is not only restricted to political figures but he has contributed to the film industry too. His journey symbolizes craftsmanship, pride, and elegance.
