Ayesha Dasgupta, 32, is a young and talented fashion and film stylist, costume designer and a fashion columnist. Born and brought up in Assam among lush green tea gardens, Ayesha has a Bachelor’s degree in English Literature. Although she never had a formal designing or fashion course in any fashion institute, today she is one of the favorites among the Bollywood divas. She has styled many Bollywood celebrities like
, Genelia Deshmukh, and
to name a few. Movies, where she has worked, include "

" (2015), etc. Fashion has always been in Ayesha’s mind. After her graduation, when she was 21, she landed a content writing internship in a reputed fashion magazine in Mumbai.
There she discovered that a job in the fashion industry doesn’t always mean being a fashion designer. In an interview, she says that since she wasn’t a good illustrator, she couldn’t study fashion designing at NIFT or any other fashion designing institute. But her love for fashion and her quirky imagination soon got noticed by the fashion gurus. Post her internship in the fashion magazine; she got lucky and started working as an apprentice under
Anaita Shroff Adajania
, a leading fashion stylist, and designer. Her first break in film styling was in the blockbuster Bollywood movie, "Dhoom: 2" (2006), where she assisted Anaita and styled
. Since then, she has been assisting Anaita for quite a long time and in many movies like "Love Aaj Kal", "Break Ke Baad", "Desi Boyz", and "Cocktail (2012).
After styling Deepika for so many films, Ayesha gained her trust and started styling her for various public appearances and movie promotions. Her first stint as an individual stylist was in the Bollywood teenage rom-com, "Gippi" (2013) where she styled the lead role, Gippi, a 14- year old girl played by Riya Vij. For Gippi, she chose quirky and feminine costumes, as any common teenage girl would wear. Later she went on to style the leads Akshay Kumar and Tamannah in "Entertainment" and the characters for Dibakar Banerjee’s story in "
" (2013). Recently she decked the supporting cast of Shahid Kapoor-Alia Bhatt starrer rom-com, "Shaandaar". In the same year, she styled Deepika for the cover features for Maxim and Filmfare magazines and Hrithik for his Rado advertisement.
In 2014, she was the sole stylist of the of Yash Raj Films’ fashion line Diva’ni for its Spring/ Summer collection. Along with the movies, Ayesha styled for numerous fashion weeks including the looks for Jabong Street Style in Lakme Fashion week 2014. She has also assembled costumes for various TV commercials like that of Tata Nano, Blackberry, and Lakme. Apart from being a costume stylist, she has been a regular fashion columnist at DNA Newspapers. In 2016, Ayesha finally came up with her own designer label, State of Art, to be found at Our Luxury Garden market at Corona Garden, Bandra (W) in Mumbai. The project turned out to be a huge success. The talented lady is now a reliable fashion designer and advisor, and styles eminent Bollywood personalities for films as well as other appearances.
