This led to his journey to become a Cinematographer. He applied for FTII and chose Cinematography, and eventually graduated from FTII in 2011. His keen interests in Cinematography lead him to win many prizes. In 2010, he won cinematography award in Kodak film school competition for his project “The Light and Her Shadows.” Also, his diploma film “Allah Is Great” gained him more popularity when it became an official entry in Student Oscars. The same won many awards, including National Award in 2012.

He dedicated almost ten years of his life to the Film and Television Institute of India. After completing his graduation from FTII,  Avinash Arun Dhaware worked for cinematographers like Anil Mehta Anil Mehta is a cinematographer, director, and wri >> Read More... and Anay Goswami.

Anil Mehta was one his favorite directors, and while sharing his experience of early days as a Cinematographer, during an interview, he said, “I’ve always wanted to work with Mr. Anil Mehta because he has the correct temperament for a director of photography. He works for the story and becomes the Director’s right hand.

I’ve never seen him quarrel with anyone or over anything. Also, the atmosphere he creates on the set is wonderful. And that is my philosophy too. One bad shot doesn’t spoil the film, and one bad film doesn’t spoil anyone’s life. Above everything, we are here to have fun, and we should enjoy the process. After all, no one knows the future of any film.”

His dedication provided him his way to some of the fabulous work he ever did so far. Avinash Arun  Dhaware has worked in many movies like “Kai Po Che!” ( Berlinale Panorama section 2012), Deool (National Award Winner 2011).

He recently shot MASAAN (the double award winner at Cannes) and Drishyam. He also directed a movie, ‘Killa’, which is his first feature film as a director. At 64th Berlin International Film Festival, Killa won Crystal Bear for the Best Film. ‘Killa’ also won a National Award for best Marathi film of the year.
