Dilip De

Dilip De is a well-known shipping financier and horticulturalist. He loves living a luxurious life and is very fond of many things in his life, but especially celebrity writer-wife Shobha, growing flowers, drinking single malt whiskeys, collecting paintings, cooking, smoking cigars, reading books, wearing designer clothes, traveling, rebuilding vintage motor cars, and much more. Here is a man who understands and loves food, when he is having a party at home; the guest list is a pain to make because everyone wants to be invited. Particularly, Dilip is making food for the guest.

He is fond of Continental food and likes to try various foods varieties. In the Indian cuisine, he is fond of Bengali food. He learned the great skill of cooking from his mother. He’s fairly knowledgeable about rare beers, which he has been boozing for the past ten years. There are cigars, his other large joy for the past years. He had stopped smoking in 1993 after beginning when he was 25 with Lucky Strike, then moving on to ITC’s India Kings and burning 30 cigarettes a day. Though being living a carefree life, he is very fond of gyming.

He does compulsory pushups, some stretching, daily PT exercises. He also loves cricket and as a player for the Cricket Club of Calcutta, he was in the first division, he served as the vice-captain, for the Rajasthan Club and St. Xavier’s College in Calcutta, he was a champion for consecutive three years. He loves to dress in a classical way he, loves Lanvin, Cerruti, and Jaeger. He always wishes to dress up in Indian attire. He loves collecting Jamevar, shawls, Kashmir, wrist watches. He is fond of gardening and hence the flower shop at his farmhouse in Alibaug is a fun spot for him.

The greenhouse is a perfect state of an art place with the most advanced, computer-controlled technology. He plants, orchids and anthodium’s and furnishes them to 120 yards in Bombay and to most hotels. He also has his own big library in the farm house. He prefers reading biographies of great people and likes discovering out how they all made it to the top. He even loves to spend most of his tie with the new generation do that he can be aware of their ideas, their thing thinking or in his language be updated about the new stuff that keeps coming in.
