Zinia completed her schooling from Gokhale High School and her higher studies in English from Presidency College and Master of Arts in Mass Communication and Journalism from Calcutta University, Kolkata, West Bengal. In 2005, Zini joined the Times Of India as a journalist and assistant editor and worked there till 2019. She was the chief copy editor at Calcutta Times and handled the section of ‘Kolkata Is Talking’.
