Nannaku Prematho

The year 2016 started with a super hit success of Nannaku Prematho featuring ‘N T Rama Rao Jr’, Rakul Preet Singh, Rajendra Prasad and Jagapati Babu. The super hit film is directed by 'Sukumar' and most of the film had been shot in overseas locations. The hairstyle of Tarak created a new trend among the youngsters.

Soggade Chinni Nayana

Soggade Chinni Nayana released along with Nannaku Prematho and both the films entered the 100 Cr club. Directed by Kalyan Krishna and produced by Annapurna Studios, SCN featured Akkineni Nagarjuna, Ramya Krishnan and Lavanya Tripathi. Nag played a dual role and the super hit success of the film impressed the Kannadigas and it has been remade in Kannada with Upendra Rao.


To be frank, ‘Kshanam’ is an unexpected hit of the year. Without any big artists, the film directed by Ravikanth Perepu and produced by ‘Prasad V Potluri’ garnered the appreciation of the audiences and critics. The film has Adivi Sesh, Anasuya Bharadwaj and Adah Sharma in the leads. Adivi Sesh has scripted the film, which is made on a medium budget.


Oopiri is yet another super hit film of the year and this is the second super hit for Nagarjuna after Soggade Chinni Nayana. Directed by Vamsi Paidipally, Oopiri is a bilingual film made in Telugu and Tamil. The film is the remake of a French film ‘Inseparables’. Tamil star Karthik Sivakumar made his debut in Telugu with this film. Tamannaah Bhatia played the love interest of Karthi in the film. This is the second big hit for Pearl V Potluri.


Sarrainodu is one among the highly anticipated films of the year. Boyapati Srinu directed the film which has Allu Arjun in the lead. Rakul Preet Singh played the love interest of Allu Arjun and Catherine Tresa played a politician. From the first look poster till the release, the film tied the fans with its stylish look and genre. Geetha Arts produced the film on a large scale.

A Aa directed by Trivikram Srinivas is a superhit success, which came on time for ‘Nithiin’. The film also featured Samantha Ruth Prabhu, Anupama Parameshwaran, ‘Nadhiya’, and Srinivas Avasarala. Haarika And Hassine Creations bankroll this romantic action entertainer, which helped Nithiin to retain his place in Tollywood.

Pelli Choopulu

Pelli Choopulu is the real hit of 2016 in Tollywood. Made with a minimum budget, the film had collected a lump sum in both the Telugu states and in overseas. In fact, it overtook the collection records of all the big films, which released in recent times. Vijay Deverakonda and Ritu Varma played the lead roles in the directorial venture of Tharun Bhascker Dhaassyam.

Janatha Garage

Janatha Garage directed by Koratala Siva is an action entertainer with enough romance and sentiment elements. Mythri Movie Makers produced the film which has N T Rama Rao Jr and Mollywood Superstar ‘Mohanlal’ in the lead. The film also had three more Mollywood people, ‘Rahman’, Nithya Menen and Unni Mukundan. Samantha Ruth Prabhu played the heroine and Kajal Aggarwal grooved for a song.


Premam, which faced a lot of criticism before the release, thrashed all those negatives and became a super hit film in the career of Naga Chaitanya. Shruti Haasan, 'Madonna Sebastian', and Anupama Parameshwaran played the lead roles in this Malayalam remake. The film directed by Chandoo Mondeti helped Chaitu to hold his position in Telugu market.


Dhruva came as a life saver for Ram Charan. Charan, who had been expecting a success for a long, took this project, after a deep thinking. Being a remake of the Tamil super hit film, Thani Oruvan, the film has Rakul Preet Singh and Arvind Swamy in the leading roles along with Charan. Geetha Arts produced the film on a large scale. Surender Reddy had made the film move interestingly without affecting the original script. Arvind Swamy’s villainy performance is highly lauded by the critics and the audiences.
