Venky Av

Venky AV is an Indian writer and director who has worked extensively in the Hindi film industry. He is the recipient of the prestigious Dada Saheb Phalke Award, among numerous other accolades. Venky began his career in the field of entertainment as a Creative Director, developing content for music videos and short films. He trained in various aspects of filmmaking as well as acting through courses in the Guy Slater Workshop, Barry John Acting Studio, and Whistling Woods International. In 2016, he was awarded the National Dada Saheb Phalke Award in the category Best Film for his short ‘(aids + b)².’ The video portrays the world through the eyes of a young boy as he struggles to understand the taboo of AIDS in society. Venky founded the studio, ‘AV Films’ in 2016, and has created several shows, commercials, and films under its banner. He co-produced and directed the travel series ‘Yamaha FZ25 Expedition,’ which was aired on Zee5.

His 2019 short ‘Bhau’ was screen at several international film festivals and went on to win the People’s Choice Award for Best Film at the Autumn Shorts Film Festival. It was also a prize nominee at the New York Indo-American Arts Council Film Festival and the Filmfare Awards. Venky continues to head the company and release new projects.
