Satrangi was a television drama serial that was written by Jawad Daud and directed by Imran Hussain. It was telecasted on GEO TV and had only one season with a total of 79 episodes. With the change in a generation of people comes a change in the mentality and thought process of a young adult. This serial named ‘Satrangi' focuses exactly on that concept and tries to show the world how the change in generations can bring change in people and how their mind works when confronted by different situations and hardships.

The story begins by introducing the audience to seven different people who all come from different backgrounds and have very different personalities. These seven people are a group of friends comprising four boys named Behzaad, Raayaan, Shehzore, Khayyam, and three girls named Nashmia, Rushna, and Bisma. Behzaad is portrayed as an extremely rich boy who can’t stand his father who happens to be a busy lawyer. Regardless to say that the feeling happens to be mutual considering that his father looks down on him and his attitude. Raayaan on the other hand is a boy who belongs to the middle class and has to work a white-collared job to maintain his family.

He is simple and humble but he always feels frustrated and dragged down because of peer pressure from his family. Shehzore is a boy who is from a village but he thinks that his true calling might be in the urban cities where he can rise up as a successful and rich person. Khayyam on the other hand is a bit different from the others and is more of an artistic dreamer. He thinks that he should be a musician but he has yet to find the instrument and the style of music that fits his taste. Nashmia is a girl who has poor communication with her mother and has stopped to talk to her after her mother remarried. She absolutely despises her mother and can't stand her.

Rushna is a tomboy who faces difficulty with her family due to her personality. Bisma is a girl who is shown to have never received an ounce of love since her childhood and is currently emotionally drained and in need of love more than the fact that she needs to search for it. As depicted in the serial, all of the above-mentioned people are quite different from each other with different personalities and backgrounds, however, they have one thing in common, that is their way of thinking and how it creates a huge gap between them and their parents. They all feel misunderstood and alone in their own lives. They feel like they need to start anew their life and stay away from the adults who don’t get their way of thinking or are restricted to the old ways.

Frustrated by their lives and willing to get away from their parents together they all plan a trip that would take them to Khyber within three days. Behzaad builds a special mini-bus for them to travel in and they leave from Karachi and begin the journey. However, soon the trip stretched into months as they refused to go back home and instead visited different historical and ancient places across the whole of Pakistan from Karachi to Azad Kashmir. Throughout the journey, they face different hardships and situations that test their friendship. They realize the power of friendship, experience love, and understand the consequences of their actions. They begin to understand the generational gap and try to understand and unravel the emotional baggage of each other.

The journey helps them to understand and find their true selves and develop into young adults who are fairly new to the harshness of the world yet strong enough to deal with hardships. Overall, this serial is a good representation of teenagers and all the young adults who feel disconnected from their parents and the older generation. This serial portrays the problems faced by these young people and depicts the reality of the situation. This serial also helps the older generation to accept the youngsters and the changing times and understand the developing thought process a bit better.
