Based on Umera Ahmad's novel, Man-O-Salwa, premiered in 2007 on Hum TV and became a much-loved show. It is a Pakistani Urdu Drama Series which aims to showcase the various challenges faced by women in this dictatorial society. The storyline revolves around the life of Zainab (Resham) and how she reaches her tragic end. Zainab was once a beautiful girl with love and empathy for everyone. She falls in love with her cousin Shehraz who breaks off the engagement just to marry rich. Shehraz's boss wanted him to marry his daughter Sheena, and so he did. But in the process of chasing happiness through luxury, Shehraz lives an unhappy married life and is soon indebted to his father-in-law. Zainab's character, unlike Shehraz, is compassionate but powerful and independent. With this major heartbreak and frustration of the false prejudices against her character ( by Shehraz), she turns her revenge mode on.

She starts modeling and acting and soon becomes a famous personality. The most heartbreaking part is that even after achieving so much, she is thought to be impure by society. Despite these comments, she never fails to help her loved ones. She takes care of her mother when she is at her lowest and even helps her elder sister Zohra when her husband leaves her and her three children.

Zainab during her visit to Sydney, falls in love with a good-natured guy, Karam. But even when Karam comes to her home to ask for her hand, Zainab's mother insults her vehemently. Zainab commits suicide. Her suicide is her statement of the injustice faced by her, all her life. The tragedy shows the position of women in the light of a judgmental society, which is only judgmental of women.
