Umera Ahmad was born on 10 December 1976 in Sialkot. She pursued her Master`s in English Literature from Murray College, Sialkot. Her career started as an English lecturer at Army Public College, Sialkot. Nonetheless, she quitted her job to dedicate her full heed to her writing career in the Urdu language. She started her career in writing in 1998 when she was 22 years old for monthly Urdu digest. Her first published story for the monthly Urdu digest was ZINDAGI GULZAR HAI which became popular among the people. Afterward, she was been requisitioned to write full-length stories.Her work Zindagi Gulzarhai was then turned into a serial that was aired on Hum TV in 2012.According to one interview of hers she stated that the female lead of her novel `Zindagi GulazarHai `based on her character.

Umera Ahmad writes basically in the fiction genre, which mainly revolves around men and women relationships,societal pressures, etc.Though she said in one of her interviews that she just write novels in this way, she is not a romantic person. Her other famous works are Meri Zaat Zarra-e-Benishan which got her the ‘Best Writer’ Award at the 10th Lux Style Awards in 2011.This novel too was converted into a serial. The drama gained so much popularity that in the year 2014, it aired in India and was known as Kesi Yeh Qayamat. She has also written in the spirituality and religion genres.

She has written more than 35 books, and amongst them, 22 novels transformed into dramas that were mostly popular.Umera Ahmad is also a screenwriter and has also collaborated with director Mehreen Jabbar Mahreen Jabbar is a New York-based TV Director/ >> Read More... . Her recent work was a web series known as Aik Joothi love story,which released on 30 September 2020 on the ZEE5 platform. She worked on the screenplay of movie the Baaghi based on a famous model. She was also a screenwriter of many other web series. She has worked for Netflix on many projects. She also contributed towards other budding writers by creating a platform called Alif Kitab,which is a platform to publish and monetize stories. And currently,she is working on her new project, which is on cyber bullying.
