She lives with her rude and misbehaved mother-in-law and equally sweet step-daughter,Emaan. Her husband Sikander is an ex-convict, and he frequently abuses her.

Bhatti is the stereotypical expatriate who goes to the US with dreams of making it big but ends up being a cab driver instead. Back home in Pakistan, his ailing mother lives with his older brother and sister-in-law who mistreat her. Bhatti had kept his job as a cab driver under wraps, lying to his family about being a cab company owner. Added to all this fiasco, he is in a marriage contract with an English woman, Kathy, who constantly mistreats him. Fate leads Salma to Bhatti. Thus, it sparks an ideal friendship between the two slowly developing into love. The entire plot revolves around Salma and Bhatti and their close encounters with friends and family. Bhatti’s only nephew, Jamshed, leaves behind a prospective government job to be successful like his uncle. Once in the US, he comes to terms with the bitter truth and falls prey to desperation. To gain his green card, he decides to marry and settle down. He conveniently woos Michelle, a Pakistani Christian who runs a restaurant and houses Jamshed as a favour for Bhatti. Rizwan who is Michelle’s friend is head-over-heels in love with her and frequently warns her about Jamshed.

But Michelle ignores the signs. She finally learns the truth on their wedding day. Heartbroken, she leaves for London, enrolling Jamshed in New York University as a last favor so that he can fulfill his dreams. Sikander learns about Salma and Bhatti’s affair and he plans to shoot him. But the plans end up wrong when he meets with an accident. Salma cares for her abuser of a husband, which makes him realize his mistakes. On the other hand, Bhatti divorces Kathy and returns to Pakistan, leaving behind Salma. His mother passes away, and he opens up a cab company. Emaan asks Salma to stay with them for her father has learned his lesson. Salma is now shackled by the responsibility of her promise. Later, Emaan realizes the grave sacrifice Salma had made and frees her. Salma and Bhatti finally reunite and have a happily ever after. Jackson Heights is the first Urdu serial to be aired on &tv UK and has received a remarkable response. Jabbar has been widely appreciated for her directorial skills in the series. References:
