The story of Farida, who comes from a lower-middle-class family and has some dreams, is told in Digest Writer. Her parents want their son to be a doctor while ignoring her ambitions. Farida is a confident and talented woman who aspires to be successful and settled in her life, believing that "whatever you're destined to achieve, you'll achieve." At the same time that her family is experiencing financial difficulties, Farida aspires to become a Digest Magazine writer under the name Rashk-i-Hina. Her father praises her and acknowledges her love for her family after observing her desire to assist her family.

She later met a banker named Shehryar Ahmed, and they want to marry, but her father wants her to marry her cousin Shaukat. He forces her to marry Shaukat, and she agrees to become his wife. After the marriage, she realized it was a bad idea because she was subjected to his family's taunts for becoming the writer of Digest Magazine. Shaukat rapes Farida to keep her from divorcing.
