Mahallo Kokila is a Telugu TV serial on Star Maa. The serial was released in December 2020. The drama is currently available for streaming on the Disney+ Hotstar OTT platform. Mahallo Kokila’s story follows the life of Janaki. Janaki is a sweet and good-natured girl. Her father is an ordinary farmer employed under Meenakshiamma. Meenakshiamma is a wealthy woman and is well-loved by the people for her kindness. She arranges for her son Arjun to get married to Renuka. Janaki and Renuka are sisters. Arjun is confined to a wheelchair. Renuka, being an independent-minded, strong-willed woman, dislikes Meenakshiamma. Refusing to become a puppet under Meenakshiamma, she abandons Arjun on their wedding day.
To save her father’s image, Janaki gets married to Arjun. With a lot of obstruction to her married life, the story follows Janaki's life through the difficulties. The audience has received the Telugu serial well for its not so commonly used plot. Proper casting and a good storyline have made the serial popular and have more to offer than most stereotypical dramas on screen.
