In 2017 DD Podhigai improved the effective way Doordarshan works. It launched a show named Best Of Matinee Show that started airing in 2017. It is, respectively, a local show telecasted live on DD Podhigai. DD Podhigai is a Doordarshan's standard TV Channel that broadcasts TV shows in the Tamil language.

The notable show was one of its kind, and after a few months of its starting, it became so popular. Later that month, makers of this successful show started typically showing it live on their official Facebook page named Doordarshan Podhigai. Lata Rao and Rajkamal are undoubtedly two small-screen stars that host this show; they are charming, witty, and excellent for this show. The unique show is an effort to creatively showcase excellent local talents in different fields in regional language.

It has five female producers that undoubtedly help in telecasting it live. The noble head of this show Andal Priyadarshni who is also a longtime director of Doordarshan Coimbatore, properly says, " women efficiently are the ace planners." It is the type of show which presents dance, music, culture, drama, fashion, etc. Each category gets a 10 to 15 minutes slots along with it one to one and a half-hour long.

Every typical week there is respectively a special guest that appears on this show and gleefully tells the viewers about his/her practical experience and shares a few valuable tips to the viewers. It is a unique show because of the cultural diversity of programming that is released in this show.
