The series speaks about Queen Ahilyabai Holkar, who was born a common girl. She grew stronger with the support of her father-in-law amidst the patriarchal society. The story starts in the backdrop of the 18th century. Ahilya was born on 31st May 1725 and lived until 13th August 1795. She had two children: a son, Malerao, and a daughter, Muktabai. Ahilya ruled Malwa and was one of the few women rulers who didn’t bend before anyone. She ruled the region perfectly, and hence, she didn’t face any attacks from opponents. After losing her husband in a war in 1754 and her supportive father-in-law Malhar Rao Holkar in 1766, she took the responsibility to protect her nation. She developed industries during her reign. A lot of dharmashalas were established during her rule, and many temples were built. After seeing the courage of Yashwantrao, who fought in the battle for her country, she got her daughter Muktabai married to him.
