The story is set in the late 1980s. It shows the living conditions of the citizens after the Civil War. The story starts with Wasantha and this family. Wasantha is a college student who was jailed under a false charge. He has been serving in jail after being convicted. He returns home after a long time. When he reaches home, he is horrified to find the poor condition of his family. One of his brothers was missing since the war events. Not hearing from him for a long time, his mother gets depressed. She could not bear the loss of her son and committed suicide. The father had remained strong all this time. But after his wife’s death, he could not tolerate it and became mentally unstable. Wasantha’s elder sister has become a school teacher and aims to be a principal. She wants to remain unmarried for the rest of her life because if she marries, she will have to leave her family. She alone has been taking care of her family financially and emotionally.

Wasantha now decides to be responsible and take care of his family. The story revolves around the events that Wasantha has to face while looking for the well-being of his family. He has to deal with economic challenges. He also struggles to fight against political and societal conditions. The series shows the difficulties the citizens faced during and after the Civil War. Their normal lives have been uprooted because of the uprisings.
