The story revolves around Anne, a playful little girl. She was eleven years old when her parent died in an accident. After that, she has to work as a servant for some time. Later, Anne is taken to an orphanage. She was badly treated in their orphanage. She has a lovely neighbor who is always concerned for her. She felt sad for Anne and the way she was treated. She wants to help Anne escape the situation.

The neighbor had distant relatives, the Cuthberts. Manila and Matthew were a lovely couple. Unfortunately, they could not have kids biologically. They have been looking to adopt a child for some time. The neighbor believes that they will happily take Anne as their child. She takes Anne to him. The Cuthberts were surprised because they had expected the child to be a boy. Initially, they did not want to adopt her as they wanted a boy.

But her cheerful behavior and playful attitude won their hearts. The Cuthberts realize they need a child like Anne, not necessarily a boy. They finally decide to adopt Anne. Anne is very playful and carefree. Sometimes it harms her too. When Anne starts schooling, she makes a friend, Diana. Diana and Anne had compatible humor and attitude. They instantly become good friends. Together with their mischief and wit, they make their lives exciting.
