Jathaka Kathakal is a Malayalam anthology series that aired in 1992 on Doordarshan Malayalam. One of the stories in this anthology series is Puthran.
A young married woman lives with her small family: her husband, her child, and her sister-in-law. Her toddler goes missing. She has been mentally disturbed since that moment. She always plays with a toy, which she considers her son. The village doctor tells her husband that if they don’t bring the kid to her, she will permanently become mentally ill. After a hard effort, her husband finds their kid, who has been cared for by another woman in the nearby town. Although the woman denies giving the kid, he manages to get him from her. After seeing her child, she recovers, but the woman, who cared for the child for some time, becomes mentally disturbed.
