Asoka - The Series was a five part miniseries that was broadcast on Star Plus. It was shown every Tuesday at the prime time slot of 9 pm. The serial was aired in 2002, and was a tie-in to the movie called Ashoka. Even though the movie did not succeed in the box-office, the producers went ahead with the serial.

The series showed a different view of the movie. It provided a behind- the-scenes perspective on the movie. The series showed the movie again, while adding trivia and extra scenes to spice up the show. The show followed Asoka, played by famous actor Shah Rukh Khan Shah Rukh Khan or also known as SRK is a prominent >> Read More... , in his quest to conquer as much of the world as he can. It also shows the passionate and emotional love story between him and Kaurwaki, played by Kareena Kapoor. The series also shows footage that was cut from the original movie. It also features interviews with the actors and actresses while showing the viewers how some parts of the movie were filmed. It features some interesting anecdotes, including takes by the leading actors on their characters.

The series was well-received by both viewers and critics, who praised its vibrancy and involving concept. However, a few people did comment on the many historical inaccuracies portrayed in the series and the film.
