is a Hindi television serial, which tells the tale of the legendary Queen of Jhansi, Manikarnika. Rani Lakshmibai was born on 19 November 1828 in the town of Varanasi into a Marathi Karhade Brahmin family. She was named Manikarnika and was very dear to her parents. Her father was very progressive at the time and he allowed Manikarnika to study at home. She studied, learned horse riding and sword fighting. She got more freedom at the time than girls of her age. This made her into a strong-headed and powerful woman. She was very grateful to her father for all that he gave her. She was married off to Maharaja of Jhansi and soon gave birth to a boy. Their kid died four months after his birth and the Maharaja adopted another kid.
After the death of the Maharaja, the British refused to accept Damodar Rao, as the king because he was adopted. They applied the doctrine of lapse on the kingdom of Jhansi and soon asked Rani Lakshmibai to step down from the throne. She refused and thus began her struggle to keep her kingdom from the hands of the British. It was at this time that Rani was titled Jhansi Ki Rani and she became one of the symbols of the freedom struggle of India. All this made her into a huge icon at the time and her legend continues. The show Veer Manu Ki Kahani, as the title itself suggests focus on her journey to become the Queen of Jhansi. The show focused on her childhood when she learned everything and was shaped into a woman she would later become. She was a powerful woman who became one of the most iconic figures of strength. The show tells all this with some dramatic flair as is required by television shows in general. The show aired on the popular Hindi channel, Big Magic. Big Magic is a satellite television channel that was launched by Zee Entertainment Enterprise Ltd. in 2014 and has since caught the attention of many viewers. The channel mostly airs re-run of old shows of Zee TV but it also has some fresh shows. Veer Manu Ki Kahani is one such show which was praised by viewers for its production.
