and Indraneil Goswami starring popular Bollywood actress
Raveena Tandon
in lead role of Choti Bahu,

as
Chote Babu
and
Rajesh Shringarpure
as Bhootnath. The serial aired in Sahara One Channel for 104 episodes.
The story is about a Zamindar who is married to a beautiful woman however neglects his wife and prefers the brothels and alcohol. A young man named Bhoothnath is hired as a servant to this zamindar. Bhoothnath finds out that his master’s wife is a very lonely woman, and they both come close, and soon form a friendly relationship that enable Bhoothnath to see the life of his mistress through her perception and the life she is fated to live. The serial is based on popular Bengali Novel “Sahib Bibi Aur Gulam” which is written by
Bimal Mitra
. Unlike the Guru Datt’s classic film which also based on the same novel that focused on only the love triangle, this TV serial answered many unanswered questions like, Who is Choti Bahu?, Why she had to live such a miserable existence?
The corrupted Bangali Zamindari environment in the late 19th century was depicted through the eyes of a lower-class, educated rural young boy seeking fortune in Calcutta who is mesmerized by the lady of the house. The serial was shot in Kolkata; West Bengal. The well organized flow of scenes has achieved an effective balance between the various characters and emotional phases providing a neat dramatic pattern. Especially, Raveena Tondon is an apple in the pie who looked radiant than ever. It appears to be a successful job for the entire crew.
