“It’s a noontime comedy that sets your mood for the day.” That’s what people used to say when this show first appeared on television, every Saturday at 12 noon on Star Plus. ‘Hum Hain Kal Aaj Kal Aur Kal’ was one of the very first sitcoms that have been produced in India. This popular sitcom was produced by Cinevistas Limited and was telecast in the year 2000 on “DD Metro 9 Gold’s Golden Hour” and later on “Star Plus”. It’s has a clean family comedy that even has touchy moments that bounds the family relationship, even more, stronger. The show also marked as the debut of the current textile minister, Smriti Irani.
The storyline of this comedy show is centered on the Pathak family. On a couple of very first episodes we see the two brothers of Pathak family, Rishi Pathak and Rahul Pathak Rahul Pathak is an Indian actor known for Hindi fi >> Read More... marries to Rashmi and Ritu respectively. Both couples are gifted an apartment each by their parent in the same building so that they won’t lack in family support when in need. Both the brothers and their wives are happy to finding each other companionship in the same building and starts building their new home with love and warmth.
But the real story and a roller coaster ride of laughter start from here when there fairy tale dream of the brother in the same building turned into a nightmare when family members start barging into each other’s houses at all very odd hours. They lose their privacy as whenever one gets cosy for romance, there is a nook at the door by family members and destroys the mood. The fun times don’t roll for the family members who have a weird sense of companionship- They think nothing of invading other people’s privacy.
Soon their love for each other gets too real to be true, and they begin on an endless cat-mouse fight. Desiring for Privacy, they start running for cover from their own brother, which will surely give the audience a dose of laughter medicine. Nobody recognises that the spirit of fun has converted a bad happening for the twosomes and they go on despite the shock they have caused to each other. And that’s when things start to hot up in this mild mid-day comedy and give their audience a good emotional experience of family matter. In the end, it can be well concluded that “Akhir Family Hi Jaroorat Ke Waqt Saath Khadi Rehti Hai.”
