Bhagyalakshmi is a Hindi romantic drama TV serial that aired on Zee TV and is also available on the OTT platform, Zee5. The story of the serial is based on the life of a girl named Lakshmi who is tied in a marriage alliance with a rich industrialist’s son, Rishi. Coming from a middle-class Punjabi family, Lakshmi’s family prepares for her wedding with Varun. While on their way to the wedding mandap, the bus meets with an accident, and unfortunately Lakshmi’s parents could not make it out alive. Her father takes a promise from his brother that he would take care of Lakshmi and will get her married. After their death, Lakshmi’s aunt Rano eyes the property of Lakshmi’s father and asks his assistant to open the safe so she can get her hands on his money. But the assistant reminds her of the last promise and after the wish is fulfilled, she will be able to take anything.

Rano then takes Lakshmi and her sisters to Mumbai and breaks off her marriage with Varun. Lakshmi and Rishi come face to face with each other and start arguing about a misunderstanding. Rishi gets Lakshmi arrested for trespassing. Rano and Pritam take help from Rishi’s driver Balwinder to free them from the prison and Balwinder lust for Neha. To save her daughter from Balwinder, Rano decides to get Lakshmi married to Balwinder. He tries to molest her on the first meet but this is ignored by Rano and she continues to prepare for their wedding. On the day of their wedding, Balwinder becomes drunk and abuses Rishi and his hotel. Rishi returns to the hotel and sees the bad condition of his hotel. He scolds Balwinder and the hotel catches fire.

Rishi makes sure to rescue the people but he gets trapped. Lakshmi rushes to help him and saves him. Rishi’s father thanks Lakshmi and is impressed by her, and asks her hand in marriage for his son. Lakshmi is disheartened by her two failed attempts at marriage but still decides to meet Rishi on a date. She slowly starts to fall in love with him.
